In Latin Georgius Crugerius, a Czech Baroque historian from Balbín's circle, a teacher and Jesuit. He entered the Jesuit order at the age of 17 in Brno. The order enabled him to study philosophy and theology in Olomouc and Wrocław. He then worked at Jesuit colleges in Litoměřice and Uherské Hradiště, where he served as rector, and in Jičín and Hradec Králové. He was friends with Bohuslav Balbín and Tomáš Pešina of Čechorod. The latter probably helped arrange for the publication of Kruger's work in Litomyšl by Jan Arnolt of Dobroslavín. Through his historical publications he sought to emphasise the historical significance of the Catholic religion in Czech history and the glorious deeds of Czechs of the past. His most important work was the twelve-volume Sacri pulveres. Sacerrimae memoriae inclyti regni Bohemiae coronae et nobilium eiusdem pertinentiarum Moraviae et Silesiae (Holy Dust. Sacred memories of the illustrious Crown of the Kingdom of Bohemia and its noble appendages, Moravia and Silesia). Each volume of the work covered one month, and important historical events were listed for each day of that month. The last two volumes were arranged according to the author's intentions by B. Balbín and were published by the Jesuit M. Krammer almost a hundred years after Kruger's death. Also known as Hradecký, ca. 1620-1686/87, son and successor of the printer Jan Arnolt of Hradec Králové, active in Litomyšl and later in Prague.
